The new look Espresso Room is here.

February 22, 2018 By Southpoint Tuggeranong

This week we sat down with Anthony from Espresso Room, in their newly renovated space, next to Target. Tell us about your Espresso Room in Tuggeranong. How long have you been operating? Operating since late 2012 the first espresso room was in Woden, our founder, Mick Rose, saw a lack of gorgeous coffee in shopping centres and desired to bring the specialty coffee scene to them. The Tuggeranong store was opened late November 2013. What does the Espresso Room brand pride itself on? A good coffee experience. With us working so closely with ONA coffee and it’s green bean sourcing company project origin, we are able to provide specialty coffee in a shopping centre, with a great product to serve. We emphasise our customer service to match the quality of the beans, and nothing puts a hop in your step more than a warm greeting and a delicious brew! What do Espresso Room now offer in the new space? In the new space we have quadrupled the seating from our previous location. I would say we offer a cooler, calming vibe and somewhere that you can retreat from the hustle and bustle, relax and enjoy what we have to serve, recharge to get back your tasks at hand. A tasty espresso or milk based coffee, some locally made pastries and sandwiches, there is something for almost everyone. What are some of the food offerings now available? Locally made pastries and bread from the wonderful Three Mills Bakery. I’ve never had the privilege of working with such a helpful supplier before, from danishes, brownies and cinnamon scrolls to the sandwiches we make with their focaccia loaves every morning, chicken avocado, turkey cranberry Brie, vegetarian and salmon cream cheese. We also toast up there amazing orange and raisin fruit loaf. What are three things people may not know about Espresso Room? Three things? That’s going to be tough! Let’s go with: locally owned and operated, the majority of our founding and managerial staff are all Canberra born and bred, including the owner. Also, the majority of our staff are career baristas, people who have a full blown love and drive for serving and creating delicious coffee.  I myself have been in the industry for 15 years, that passion and drive is what we look for when hiring as you see the difference in attitude and in service every day. We have always wanted to be as active in the community as possible, from supporting personal charity drives, donations and helping out at school fetes from time to time, it’s important to us for people to feel like our presence is welcome and that this is very much theirs as it is ours.
