6 Winter Warmer Recipes You Need To Try

Winter is for ugg boots, Netflix binges and good food. There is nothing better than coming home to a warm, hearty meal after braving the Canberra winter all day. Own this winter with a house full of winter warmer dishes.
 

Morrocan chicken pies 



Is there anything better than a slice of warm chicken pie on winter’s day? This family favourite can be served any night of the week and will leave you feeling warm, pleasantly fulfilled and wanting more.

Ingredients

1/3 cup (50g) plain flour, plus extra to dust

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground turmeric

chicken breast fillets, cut into 2.5cm pieces

2 tbs olive oil

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

2 tsp grated ginger

A generous pinch of saffron threads

2/3 cup (100g) dried apricots,

roughly chopped 100g green olives, pitted, sliced

1 1/2 cups (375ml) chicken stock

1 tsp preserved lemon*, flesh and white pith removed, rind finely chopped, or fresh lemon juice

2 tbs chopped coriander leaf and stalk

Roasted red pepper, sweet potato & smoked paprika soup

Soup is a winter classic that will forever be a go to dish for the chilly season. This soup with an exotic twist is guaranteed to warm you up. With hints of smoked paprika and roast veg it’s the perfect mid-week meal to get you through to Friday.

1 sweet potato, roughly chopped into dice with the skin still on

1 red pepper, de-seeded and cut into chunks

3 garlic cloves, peeled

1 tsp smoked paprika

2 tbsp olive oil

200ml coconut milk

200ml chicken stock

½ tbsp sriracha

1 tsp maple syrup


 
Chorizo pumpkin pasta

It’s been a long cold day and you just want to whip up something quick, easy and delicious? Well this is the meal for you! You can make it for just yourself or your whole extended family this meal works for all occasions.

1-1/2 pounds ground beef

1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted

3/4 cup water

1 envelope taco seasoning

1 tube (16.3 ounces) large refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Optional toppings: Shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, salsa, sliced ripe olives, sour cream and thinly sliced green onions

1 small red chilli, seeded, chopped

1/2 red capsicum, chopped

420g can mixed beans, drained, rinsed

fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves, to serve
